Fully proportional representation (PR)

ok let me try this one out!

In a 'majority election' it is winner takes all. If say, NC gets 55% of the votes in a constituency, then the remaining parties which get 45% votes don't count, right?

However, in PR system of voting, you get a representation proportional to the votes you secured. For instance, if NC gets 30% of the votes, and RPP gets 20% of the votes and the rest is shared by numerous parties (in a constituency with 10 seats, say) then NC gets 30% of the seats, which is 3, RPP gets 20% of the seats, which is 2 and so on. So, here, voters vote for a party, and not for a candicate.

So in relation to Nepal and the Maoists, in this system, the Maoists will get a few seats in the parliament even if they don't get a majority vote anywhere.

I think that is it, bt I could be very wrong! And I almoss feel like a poltishyan!
