Good News:Govt decides to nationalize more of king’s property.

The government Monday decided to nationalizing more of King Gyanendra’s property.

Approving the report prepared by a ministerial level committee formed to nationalize the king’s property, a cabinet meeting held today decided to process for nationalizing more property belonging to King Gyanendra.

During the first ever cabinet meeting following the postponement of elections held at the Prime Minister’s Office at Singha Durbar also decided to establish a trust for the nationalized property and spend the fund for benefit of the nation. The government committee had nationalized the Narayanhiti Royal Palace, Lamjung Durbar, Gorkha Durbar and Hanumandhoka Durbar on August 23. Likewise, the Nagarjuna and Gokarna palaces in the capital, Ratna palace in Pokhara, Kanti Ishwari palace in Hetauda and Diyalo palace in Chitwan and forests spread across 3,500 square kilometers in Nagarjuna, Gokarna, Balaju, Thanksen of Nuwakot and Bharatpur of Chitwan were also nationalized. Altogether 11 plots of land - 754 ropanis in Narayanhiti and 779 ropanis in other palaces – were also nationalized.    On August 20, the cabinet had constituted a five-member committee led by Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula to nationalize the property belonging to late King Birendra and the property inherited by King Gyanendra by virtue of being the monarch. Likewise, the meeting also came up with a decision to immediately release three months allowances for the Maoist combatants cantoned at different cantonments. The decision comes a day after Maoist Chairman Prachanda discussed with the PM Girija Prasad Koirala on the issues related to the Maoist Peoples’ Liberation Army (PLA) and their plight at different cantonments. The issue of secretarial appointment was also raised in the meeting, however, no decision was taken, said Minister for Health Giriraj Mani Pokhrel. The Health Minister added that the meeting decided to provide free health service in the health posts and sub health posts across the country. The goverenment has appointed members of parliaments Lila Mani Pokhrel and Kunta Sharma in the senate of B P Koirala Institute of Health and Sciences.
