Kantipur Publications, Maoist union sign agreement
As per the agreement, the trade union has called off the strike and agreed to let the Kantipur Publications publish and distribute its publications.
The Publications has agreed to drop the charges against the agitating workers affiliated to affiliated All Nepal Communication, Printing and Publications Workers' Union (ANCPPWU) and release the detained workers and withdraw its decision to expel the workers.
Both parties will hold a meeting on Monday to sort out the remaining problems.
The Managing Director of the Publications Kailash Sirohiya and Chairman of All Nepal Trade Union Federation Shalikram Jamakattel signed the agreement.
The director of Publications Binod Raj Gyawali, Editor of Kantipur daily Narayan Wagle, Editor of The Kathmandu Post Prateek Pradhan, Editor of Nepal weekly Sudhir Sharma, and news editor of the Post Ameet Dhakal were also present at the meeting.
Thousands of readers were barred from reading the newspapers regularly for the last few days due to the obstruction caused by the trade union.
