Idol ridiculed, protest in Darjeeling

Darjeeling: Reports have poured in from all over India regarding derogatory comments made by radio jockey Nitin working with Red FM 93.5 against the Nepalese community in India. According to one of the comments we received from Mr. Bishal Rai (made in DT) “He (Nitin) said : Aaaj Prashant Tamang 'Nepali larka from Darjeeling' has become Indian Idol 'with sarcastic laugh'….. and we have match tonight so we need to guard our house / malls / restaurants by ourselves as there will be no Nepali People to guard these place and whole night we need to say "Jagtay Raho". He also added that all the Footpath momo shops will remain closed as Nepali guy has become Indian Idol…” We must make him / FM station apologize unconditionally in writing and verbally for this…. dscn7476 Call Nitin… 0120- 419- 35935 or Email (Nitin's Boss)… anhita@myredfm.com and make them feel our presence.. We thank Mr. Rai for his alert observation and prompt action, as this has resulted in tremendous protest all over the Hills of Sikkim, Darjeeling and even Nepal. Darjeeling was totally shut down today and massive rallies comprising of all political parties, school students and citizens are being organized all over the town. The effigies of Nitin and RED FM were burnt in town and nearby places like Jorebunglow, Ghoom, Kurseong etc. Numerous protest calls have so far been registered by the Darjeeling DM office, Red FM and Darjeeling MP Dawa Narbula. Mr Tenzing Khambachey municipal commissioner, Darjeeling Municipality, said that we will ensure that Red FM is shut down and RJ Nitin comes to Darjeeling to apologize. He even said that “we will make sure the information and broadcasting ministry takes a strong note of this issue”.
