When student Kapil Dixit (right) donated his art to raise money for Katrina victims in 2005, he may not have realized that it would lead him back to his native country. After seeing his work posted on his art instructor’s Web site, a gallery in Nepal contacted him and invited him to exhibit there. According to Chris Fulmer, his art instructor, Dixit mailed 38 drawings to the gallery, which he created in Fulmer’s figure drawing class. “I am so very happy for him,” said Fulmer. “He is a lovely person, an award-winning artist, and has worked hard to begin establishing a career. He believes that this will be the first time in Nepal’s history that nude figure work will be on exhibition.” You can view three of Dixit’s paintings in the fall 2007 Duck Soup, available in the Liberal Arts Teaching and Learning Center, A-235.
