Many supporters said they had obtained 10 and 5 (total 15) temporary landline phone connections by paying advance Rs 50,000 and 25,000 (total 75,000) to the BSNL in Kurseong. The supporters alleged that as Prashant Tamang came in the danger zone of the competition last Saturday, it compelled them to doubt if their votes had reached the proper destination or not, which is why they were demanding bills today. Giving clarification on the matter, the BSNL, SDE in-charge, Mr Uttam Das, said the calls go through the normal routes and the bills were traced out in Kurseong only. As a solution, the BSNL would give the details only after the contest ends. The BSNL officials said that as the voters got the "thank you and keep voting message" we confirm that all the votes have reached the desired destination. After receiving the clarification, Prashant's fans demanded that as it would be difficult for them if faced with huge amounts of SMS bills all on a sudden, they should be getting authentic bills about the SMS. The issue was resolved in a meeting between BSNL officials, Prashant's fans and the Kurseong police station chief Mr Tara Rai, in which, the BSNL, DE (Hills), Mr KN Karjee said that the demands would be looked into. Technical experts from the BSNL would install meters to trace out whether SMSes were reaching its intended destinations or not.
