Nepal is well on its way to becoming next Afghanistan or Iran in the aftermath of revolution. When an angry mob controls the state-power, it is dangerous. Political decisions are made in the parliament, not on the streets burning tyres. Nepal is a failed state now. Two armies, two courts, rampant violence..all indicators of a failed state. During the Panchayati days, of course we were not a democracy but we were not a failed state at par with those in Africa. Whatever might have happened covertly, overtly Nepal had its national pride. Now the Indian ambassador acts like a viceroy. What happned to our national pride, and national identity? Look at where we landed after 2046. Therefore, if we are to take off our democratic mask and compare today's Nepal with that of the Panchayat, then, no matter how difficult it is to admit, we have to admit that as a state Nepal functioned properly then. Now its in a total mess. What kind of democracy is it when you can only favor republicanism? Doesn't democracy mean acceptring the fact that there are many others who don't think the same way as you do? In Nepal it is a crime to speak anything but Ganatantra! Beats me! Is the whole of Nepal against monarchy? I don't think so. Maybe the majority does not like the King but that does not in any way prove that the majority is against the institution. Or does it? Talk about Sambidhan Sava, as things stand now, I don't see it happening, and even if it does happen, will the Maoist respect the verdict/outcome? If I remember correctly (and my memory isn't quite good) from my history classes, Russia also had a Sambidhan Sava .. but Lenin killed all when the outcome was not exactly what the Bolsheviks had wished for. Our SPA leaders are acting more and more like Lenin's "useful idiots" and will be getting the same Bolshevik treatment as those Russian "useful idots" recieved. Really, our's is the only democracy where we all are expected to harp the same tune without even knowing/fully understanding what we are harping.
