Ph. D.-holders decline award after PM fails to turn up Kantipur Report KATHMANDU, Sept 8 - Altogether 33 Ph. D.-holders Saturday did not accept the coveted Nepal Vidhya Bhushan after Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala did not turn up to give away the awards. The Prime Minister in his capacity as the officiating head of state was scheduled to give away the awards to 117 outstanding students this morning at the annual function organized by the Ministry of Education and Sports at the Nepal Academy Hall in the capital. The students vented their anger against the Prime Minister after they were informed that he was not attending the function due to “health reasons”. The students went on a heated debate with Minister for Education and Sports Pradeep Nepal, on learning that the PM would not be able to attend the programme. Altogether 117 names, including 75 names for A Class, 29 names for B class and 13 names for C class were recommended for the Nepal Vidhya Bhushan award.
