Problem with advisor... what to do?

i agree with isolated freak. identify the problem first. if it's miniscule misunderstanding, there is ALWAYS a solution. if it's regarding technical support or other reasons pertaining to your studies, you may also want to think about looking for an alternative--go for one, who has no dearth of fund/support and technical aptitude/consultations. graduate schooling is like marriage. there is bound to be differences with your adviser at times but at the end of the day he/she is your fate-maker (for the lack of a better word :P). i myself went through a similar experience once. while my adviser was one heck of a human being, he failed to support me in the technical grounds. resulted in a divorce. i was being selfish but what could have i done? that was one sad experience indeed. he is and will remain a father figure to me though.
