Manu Smriti is one of the very few criticized Hindu texts. Many saints, of the time when this text was composed and during different times that followed, have criticized this text. There are of course some people, still present, that followed and are still following and probably will follow Manu Smriti's principles but one who truly knows the Hindu religion has always and should always denounce selfish excepts like the ones listed above because in no other holy Hindu texts including the Holy Gita has it been written that there should be no caste systems or the untouchables or just certain people are entitled to vidas and puranas. Instead we find that every one-man and woman belonging to different caste and creed have the equal right to the vedas and puranas as all of the us are the children of the God. If we look into our holy scriptures including the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, we find that many great saints have not followed with the Manu Smriti's principles, because the biggest "dharma" according to the Hindu dharma is non-violence and the biggest sin or "paap" is knowingly hurting others with actions or speech or thoughts. It is very unfortunate that the negativeness of the Manu Smriti was followed for a long period of time and still is followed in some parts of Nepal and India and as a result many people have suffered. But, it has nothing to do to Hinduism, just man made and twisted by some people to fulfill their selfish intentions.
