Then you have to understand the whole Hindu mentality upon which the whole Nepali society was built. Union of two souls as the western society's definition of Love was virtually non existant in Nepal up untill 2 to 3 decades ago. Marriage was not a choice its was a convenience, and its was always arranged. So when someone like Syamkazi Pakuwal breaks that norm, it is normally seen as a defiance of cultural boundries(set hundreds of years ago). Thus the punishment.
