Nepali court scrapes corruption cases against former ministers - Govinda and Khum: A Nepali court has scrapped the corruption cases against two former ministers stating that the case was filed late in case of one and in case of another, the charge lacked sufficient evidences, local media reported here Friday. The special court scrapped the cases against former ministers Govinda Raj Joshi and Khum Bahadur Khadka filed by the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), the constitutional body to control corruption, according to the Kantipur daily. Dissatisfied with the decision, CIAA officials said they would go to Supreme Court for review in the verdict. "The special court has stayed aloof from main issue of corruption by showing some technical reasons, it may affect other several cases of same nature," a CIAA commissioner said. The CIAA had demanded 13 and five-year jailing of Joshi and Khadka for making illegal earnings of 447,143 and 337,143 U.S. dollars, respectively.
