There can be no doubt about it that marriage is a man-made institution set about to curb violence realted to sexual frustration (rape, incest, pedophilia, etc.)...Our ancesters were indeed a smart lot! But as per your question, these days marriage is mainly done outta pressure where one group think they know more than the person stepping into the ring of fire. Also, people commit into it for all the wrong reasons: security, stability and reasons pertaining to procreation. These days you can have all these being single too!! hahahhhahaha
