Nepal Monarchy is the most expensive in the world in terms of GDP. We gave them so many years. If we gave them so much money, what did they give us back? (with the exception of Birendra!). Ok the situation in Nepal may be crap but couldn't the King do anything about it? If he really cared so much for the people, why couldn't he just tell the Maoists that he would be willing to be a ceremonial king or even give up the throne if the policies were nice. But instead, he brought up old Panchayatis and tried to supress the media and the people so that no one could speak against him. That worked in his Dad's time when Nepal was more or less isolated. Atleast now we can say Girija is an idiot and Maoists suck. If Gyandendra still had the power till today, we couldn't even say that. And if you really wanted to celebrate the King's birthday, then you should have gone to Paras. He would have shown you how to have a good time and also why Nepal doesn't need a Monarchy.
