When both of the power have respect and fear for each another as a global power player, they do not try to get into war. History has proved it. So neither china would attack US, nor US is gonna say any bad abpout china. This is why US never talks about chinese communism and it tries to be friendly and they(UN) don't recognize taiwan as a nation. Taiwan was in UN once but china showed its muscle and US and othe power back down from the UN table.

So neither china is gonna attack taiwan nor US is gonna come to defend in event of attack from china towards taiwan in coming future. So, its up to china how much gentle man china wants to be in internatinal filed.

On the other side it is known fact for this date that US is the sole super power of the world.
