Read this News carefully....WHO'S running the country? Who's in charge? And, who's being fooled by the game of Commission in every project that gets halted?? - http://www.nepalnews.com.np/archive/2007/may/may23/news02.php Prachanda to confer with ADB; PM asks him to comply with Bank's condition Following the statement by Asian Development Bank (ADB) not to renew its funding commitment on the multi-million-dollar Melamchi Water Supply Project, Minister for Works and Physical Planning Hisila Yami has said that she will take next step after her party's chairman Prachanda meets with ADB officials on Wednesday. According to Kantipur daily, Yami has said she will write response to the ADB headquarters after Prachanda discusses about alternatives to management contract with ADB officials. Yami's refusal to honour the agreement (approved by previous cabinet led by incumbent Prime Minister GP Koirala) to award management contract of valley's water distribution system to Severn Trent Water International – claiming that it has bad track record elsewhere – has resulted in the ADB issuing the statement stating that it would be impossible now to carry on with the project. Meanwhile, on Tuesday's meeting with Prachanda, PM Koirala is said to have told him that monthly salaries for PLA combatants will be released after ADB's condition on Melamchi is fulfilled. Senior Maoist leader Dr. Baburam Bhattarai told the daily that 'in a roundabout manner the PM has posed Melamchi as condition to implement PLA management.' Congress sources have said Prachanda responded by saying he will decide after consulting with Minister Yami, who is a senior Maoist leader. nepalnews.com sd May 23 07
