Rather than just saying that annexation of Sikkim was bad, just compare the current Sikkim with the Sikkim under the Chogyals. Is any Bihari / UP guy allowed to buy property or settle down in Sikkim as easily as he / she is allowed to do in Nepal ? The GDP / GNP / infrastructure development / human development index of Sikkim is far far better in comparision to what it was when it was under the Chogyals / or in comparision to Bihar or UP or Nepal. Lots of Nepalese (from Nepal) work as labours in Sikkim today. If you have been to Gangtok or any other parts of Sikkim in recent times and also to adjacent Taplejung / Panchthar, you will understand what I am talking about. And I am not talking about Darjeeling which is ruled by the Bengalis here. I am talking about Sikkim where the Nepali language is the state language and the Nepali culture is alive and kicking, much more than what it is in Kathmandu.
