Pale, If your application reached at USCIS on April 30th then I think you are out of luck for H-1b for this year. Did you not know that there were more than 150000 applications received by USCIS on the first day and 50000 more on the 2nd day of April. http://www.uscis.gov/files/pressrelease/H1BFY08Cap040307.pdf That's why they came up with the lottery system. Your consulting company not only lied to you but they were doing what they were supposed to do. They should have mailed it before April, so it could reach USCIS on time. Anyway, if you haven't graduated yet then finish the school, work on OPT and try your luck next year-- on time. F**k your current consulting company. Choose the consulting company very carefully. You can, however, still apply for H-1b IF YOU CHOSE TO WORK ON NON-PROFIT organization, like schools and Hospitals. If you are good in math and science, try your luck in teaching. G'luck to you. XX-Nepal, NOT every non-profit need not worry about quota. I think it only applies to hospitals and schools. Do some research and don't be so sure about it. G'luck to you too.
