She was just a young girl when she came to our house for the first time. Chameli, Visually thin and malnourished. She was here to serve us. I was not quite happy to see her but kept quite to maintain the harmony in The house. Ram Maya was the first one to work as a servant who was called back after few months by her parents. Then followed by a boy, i forgot his name, stole Rs 500 from my Grand fathers pocket and we had to let him go. Kancchi did great job all around but often her 'Graha' crashed with my mothers and things used to get tense sometimes. After 5 years of serving the house, here mother took her to new house who were willing to pay her more. My wife had to cook in the morning and dinner too. The whole day, she is busy in her teaching job. To have some one to help here in the household job was a great relief to all of us. Whenever i tried to enter the kitchen, i could see the disappointment of my mother's face and she prefered to throw a comment upon me. Back to Chameli, she looked 7 though we were told that she was 11. I told my wife to be kind with her and she shared the same feeling as mine. She learned the household works and became a part of my family, as a servant. Occationally, I had to yell at my mother for making her do dangerous works, such as sweeping the dirt on the roof tops. I beegged my mother not to make her do such things and volunteered myself. She was hit couple of times for breaking things. I told my mother "Maa, I wish u were a Jamindaarni somewhere in the remote village. I returned to Nepal after six years. Chameli is still with us. She called me 'Dai' instead of 'Sir' she used to call me. I saw her very much a s a part of my family. Infact she runs the whole household show. Now she dared to argue with my mother. She warned my father to take his medication or she wont prepare snacks for my father's evening drink session. I felt good when she yelled at me for wasting my cup of tea couple of times. Maa told me that she is in love with a guy who works in my Kaka's icecream factory. They met when she was in my Kaka's house for puja. I requested my mom to call the boy's father and arrange their marrige. These days, Maa worries a lot when Chameli takes little long to come back home from Tarkari shopping. After reading the incomplete "KAAVRE to THIMI", I couldn't hold back myself from writing the flashback of my own. I really appreciate Sum_Off's writing skill and enjoyed all the characters and events, as if its happening in my family. GOOD JOB. I am away from home again but have wish to be there for Chameli Bahini's marrige.
