YCL activists beat up, rob two in Paanchthar By Lawa Dhungana PAANCHTHAR, May 4 - In yet another display of its continued highhandedness, cadres of the Maoist wing Young Communist League (YCL) Friday beat up and robbed two civilians in Paanchthar. A group of 15-16 league members had beaten up brothers Hemraj and Bibal Yonghang of Naagi-7 near district headquarters Phidim. The duo had left home on their way to seek employment abroad. According to them, the YCL members dragged them out of a taxi that was carrying them to Phidim from home, tied their hands behind their back and beat them with sticks, fists and also robbed them of the cash they were carrying. Both sustained injuries to the face, eyes and legs. The YCL members made away with Rs 70,500 in cash and two tolas of gold they had with them. YCL district coordinator accepted that the league cadres had "taken action" against the two for an attack on YCL activists in Naagi some days ago. A altercation had broken out between Maoist and UML activists during an election of the management committee for the local Ganesh Secondary school. Local UML office secretary Raj Kumar Bhandary said that the YCL had launched planned series of beatings and robberies against the UML activists over the same dispute. YCL activist Arjun Begha had robbed Rs 57,000 in cash from the home of Shree Prasad Begha of Falaicha-8. Posted on: 2007-05-04 06:00:44 (Server Time)
