If Hari Shrestha the only businessman who was assaulted, then there would be an element of doubt. But, I read another blog where the owner of a dairy (74 years old) and his son were beaten up in their residence early in the morning. Are these isolated incidents? Or there are many other small businessmen who are being harassed and are keeping quiet? I have also read that because of the peace accord, police are without weapons and the maoists stutter around with openly showing their weapons. So, what is the safety situation of an average Nepali? Even though I never supported bandhs as a form of protest, I am ambivalent about this issue here.
