Alright, I'm speaking from my experience. If you were to go to Ocean City, then you'd end up paying around 700-1400 bucks for the rent for three months. You might get a couple of jobs if you're lucky as I heard that the number of Nepalese students is so high that it's gonna be almost impossible for you to find a job during the summer now. Here's the thing, you CAN'T afford NOT to go to OC as you're gonna need money for fall and even if you were to go there, there's no guarantee that you'll get a job. Plus there's a BIG feckin risk of getting caught by the undercover detectives from Homeland Security Unit as U.S. has stepped up the process of cracking down on illegal immigration. I'm not too sure if you'd get deported if you were caught working illegally but I can understand your situation though . You're pretty much likely to get fecked; whether you go there or not. That's the bitter truth brother, welcome to America. It's gonna be sweaty, hard, there are gonna be days when you won't get time to take breaks and there are gonna be days when you're gonna wish that you hadn't come to the U.S. but thats all the part of your stay in here, better prepare yourself right away. Then there are gonna be a bunch of hypocrites working out there, yup Nepalese of course who're gonna act like i-know-it-all but everything will be fine if you got a decent job. My suggestions : Never work/bother applying in Mcdonald's, Taco Bell/KFC , Burger king or any of the fast food chains. Try to apply at Seven11 ( convenience store ) try to find a place to stay around your work place or try to find a work near the place that you stay at. I still remember how much did it suck when I'd wait for more than an hour for a bus at 4-5 in the morning. Gee, that was hell. There are few lucky chaps who end up making 7-8 thousand dollars in three months, depending upon the work places that s/he gets hired at but as for myself, I ended up coming back from there with $4,400 dollars ; calm down now , dont get excited now coz I forgot to mention that I took 1800 dollars with me as well. I don't mean to discourage you but I shall always get nightmares, all my life about the summer that I spent in Ocean City. Sharing 2 bedrooms with 10-11 other roomies, sharing the bathroom that never gets cleaned, sharing the same kitchen and living room full of garbages gets so fu(kin sickening that you're gonna wish that you had somewhere else to go. Well I'm speaking from my experience and personalities matter as well. I didn't like it there but you might LOVE it and find it BETTER THAN all the places that you've visited till now. Good luck though but like I said before, if you have options of going somewhere else, like your relatives places or so, then you better go there and keep Ocean City as the "last resort", know what I mean? There's no guarantee that you'll get to work there as most of the employers are now familiar with Nepalese working there illegally and also, the number of Nepalese is gonna be so high that the chances of getting jobs are gonna be pretty slim. I know that I might've been harsh but I thought that I'd rather let you know about what you should expect than allow you to indulge yourself in some heavenly dreams. Good luck though! Peace.
