Hello Sajha Buddies! I came back from Nepal having my H-1B stamped in ealry Feb this year. It was sponsored by one of those botique IT Consulting/Recruitment firm based in mainland USA. Since I came the company have been marketing me to place me in my first project, however without success to date. When I asked my the owner of that company when he is required by the law to start paying me or at least start paying tax to the US gov't he said it is not required for 60 days for those who come here having H-1B stamped from abroad. However, I have been hearing and seeing in various legal sites where they put up FAQ listings that the guidelines say the grace period is only 30 days. Does anyone know for sure when one's employer needs to start paying taxes in this particular circumstance? I would really appreciate any useful response to this query as it would probably save me from being out-of-status as well as help me to respond pro-actively to avoid possible legal mess. Cheers in advance for the good hearted fellow brothers and sisters :)
