Well Himalayan Community is full of it itself. They were just ill-advised to send the letter to US Consulate and USCIS. They had P-3 petition until Feb 28 and thier artist went missing since end of January. If they truly wanted to notify the USCIS, they could have done so right about the time when they went missing. Links on the different website shows the letter sent to USCIS and US Consulate date March 5th 2007, requesting to withdraw the petition from USCIS effective Jan 25th 07. (Funny thing is keywork Withdraw is missing from the letter as well as you can not send the letter requesting backdate or expiration) and this letter doesnt serve any purpose. By law, all P 3 artist in US is allowed to change their status and maintain their legal status in US. As well as they can file the adjustment of status as long as they are here legally. What I see is Artist went missings are the winners in the battle of Himalayan Community Vs. Mongolian Heart. I suggestion to the community is to get the better advices before sending any letter to government which does not serve any purpose. They should have contacted the legal counsel on how to act. FYI - ALL RESIDING ARTIST IN US, Should not worry about this issue. Law will protect you as long as you maintain legal status here in the country.
