He has 3 innings were in top 100 (along with bradman) of all time best innings by wisden where as sachin had none. The kind of innnings that lara can play any other batsman can only dream of. And of course sachin have been very inconsistent in last 4-5 years and needs not outs to bloat his averages. Great playes not only makes runs but can play array of strokes and dictate the pace of the game. Sachin in last four five years (even at times when he makes runs) have been sluggish and his batting doesnot have aura that lara possess.
