Biswas what dope are you smoking. Nepals' economy is floating now coz of remittance from the diaspora. Manufacturing is dead! Service Sectore is Diead!..Tourism...very unstable...only security blanket nepal has is the remittance.. So this means NRNs are doing what they are expected to do...SEND MONEY HOME! What are local Nepalis doing? -If someone says BANDH....locals run like chicken shut their businesses -one day somebody says throw stone to Mao...they thro stones to Maoist, the next day someone says throw stone to king..they throw stone to the king. -They throw garbage outside of the house expecting somebody to come and pick it up at zero Cost -burn/destroy/vandelize purbic infrastructure So my friend, NRN and the government...both are doing what they do best. Could they do a better job? Certainly.. From my perspective, I think finger pointing at NRNs is the most ignorant thing somebody could do. Create a platform... a damn stable one where NRNs can contribute. I think most to the time, people are jealous of NRNs coz they are in developed countries making dollars. There was effort and significant amount of investment that was put into it. It was not like they waited in their house for somebody to give them greencard or work permit. BTW, you are confused with the NRN word. It means Non Resident Nepalis..it does not segregate between Nepalis working in Middle East/SE Asia and the rest of the developed nations. Getting the basic vocabulary is probably the first step my friend. So what can local Nepalis do: PARTICIPATE -participate in the political process by electing the right government -participate in the economy by utilizing all the resources -stop playing the blame game and start doing -dont' take crap from politician or the F#$King Maoists The idea is collaboration and implementation. Sajha has set up a great example on how few people primarily (nepali diaspora) can cometogether and come up with 7000.00 USD for a Nepali girl who could perhaps one day have a working vision. Now that's what i am talking about! So my friends stop bitching and moaning...start creating platforms where people can participate.
