receiving letter from lottery department does not necessary mean you are eligible to reside in the US. I think majority of our nepali daju vai doesn't know about this. And there are some crooks always there to make money out of sojha sajha nepali. they make money making false documents. as far as i have understood if you get the lottery: 1. your number makes a big difference. For example, US has 100 quotas for nepali and let's say a person has got a DV lottery and his number is 88. if the persons who are in the first three (let's say 1, 2, and 3) in the line has 4 dependents each means: US has invited 12 immigrants already. In this case persons who has the number 88 and higher will not get second letter. 2. You have to have good financial condition. US government wants to bring the immigrants but does not want them to be in public charge. i.e they cannot claim Food Stamps like low income US citizens. That's why embassy wants lottery winners to provide sufficient financial documents to start up their life upon arrival in to the US. And again, crooks in nepal take advantage of this fact and assure visa making false documents. I feel sorry for those people who have lost everything in the hope of bright future. But it does make me mad when they are deceived by their own fellow nepali.
