Dear ImI, Kasto TiMi!!!! Had you read my earlier posts, you would know that I was never and I am not a blind supporter of UML or any communists. I am not fond of Nepal Bandh. I used to run travel business in Nepal and I know how Nepal Bandh affected tourism and my business. It affected all other sectors but the government holders and parties. I don't approve every action of UML. The culture of strikes or bandh has its history back to 2007 and before, I believe. I have read about the popular strike of the Jute Mill ( Raghupati ??) which Girija Babu proudly claims that he was involved in and that he started his political career from. During Panchayati Era, these are the student factions who frequently used to shut off the campuses for various reasons. Don’t say that it was only Akhil to do so. NeBiSangh also did that. During Jana Aandolan I also, the political parties used the Bandh as the tools to weaken the Panchayat system. During 12 years of democracy, apparently these are the communists who were the organizers of the bandh. Naturally NC would not do so because they were in power most of the time. So, this is a prejudice to find UML accountable for all bandhs of Nepal. Bandh is not the unique product of UML and we don’t claim its patent right. South Asian countries like India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan also do practice Bandh. In USA also, I can see strikes taking place time to time. Last year, the employees of department of public safety went on strike and many driving license test centers were shut off (in MN). But having said this, I still disapprove any kinds of bandh or strikes of any form that directly affects the public life. <> It sounds like you do not appreciate any changes taking place in the communists’ ideology or your knowledge about communism is zero. Changes are taking place everywhere. In economics, in science, in technology, everywhere, changes are taking place in daily life. Each old theory is being replaced by new or advanced one. So why can’t or shouldn’t communists change? There was never communism anywhere in the world. Communism, or a class-less society is the ultimate goal that the followers of Marxism want to attain. As the communism was never obtained, there is no question of its failure. Only some applications have been failed. The name itself is not an issue. If name plays the vital role, Rastriya Prajatantra Party would be the grandest Democratic Party in Nepal. NC claims that they are the largest and the oldest Democratic Party of Nepal but there is no democracy in its own intra-party practices. All decisions come out from the pocket of Girija Babu or from the sari-knots of his late Nona bhauju or Suajata daughter. Other members of the party are just staff of Koirala family. Don’t worry, the day we realize that the concept of “classless society” is not true, we will change our name. If you say that 100% classless society is impossible, I agree but we can set our goal to reduce the class-difference very minimal, can’t we? When Marxism was an attraction, I remember, even NC leaders used to claim that they are the true representative of the Marxism. Why? NC is still the member of International Socialist Society, why? It can be a debate if classless society is possible or not. If you say that capitalism is flourishing, why can’t any Nepali party set capitalism as its ideology and ask the vote in this name? Had capitalism remain stagnant in its original form, it would never come this way long. There have been a lot of reforms. And workers are given benefits such as Social security, Medicare, health insurance, bonus, paid leave etc. So, if we get all these benefits, we don’t have to care whether it’s a capitalism or communism. When can we have all these benefits in Nepal? I have nothing to do with all the dictators of the world and I am not fond of them. They have failed in their country and I don’t have to be worried about. We have to see in Nepal’s perspective and I will worry the day communists in Nepal fails. Here Rahulbhai expressed his personal experience how he suffered in the hands of communists and I have a couple of similar stories. 1. When I was very young, the only 10 katthaa land of ours that we owned was somehow captured by a XYZ baaje and we had to evacuate our house and we learnt that we became landless (sukumbasee). Now, I see that XYZ baajee is an influential NC leader and in our land, there is a well-established resort. 2. After I did BSc, I had not a big dream. As the rural schools always deprived of science and math teachers, I decided that I would become a teacher. I was asked to take the job of a Math teacher in the same school where I did SLC from. The first day I went to take the class, half of the students of the schools were out, protesting my appointment, in sponsorship of the NC local leaders. As I was Akhil supporter (I was never an active leader in my life), I was not qualified to become a teacher. My first division marks in SLC, I Sc and BSc were no qualifications. That means in NC rule, from PM to peon everybody must be NC activists. Is that so? Later I knew that a Gorakhpure Bhaiya was imported as Math Teacher. 3. I have an aunt in my village. Although she and her family vote NC and I vote UML, we have good family relationship. The only reason she votes f NC is: She has 2 bigha lands. If communists come in the power, her land will be taken and that she has to work 8 hours a day but she is an old person and can not do so. She is too respectable for me to try to convince her that it was a misconception. I hope, ImI, you know communism better than her. That’s it. Going to sleep now, brother. Don’t say that as I am UML supporter, I am not eligible to reside in US. This DV thing brought me here; otherwise it was not in my plan.
