Alson, When he comes back ask him to take his passport with valid visa along with 2 letter mailed to his permanant address under his name for address verificaion.i.e add your dad into ur bank account and utility as well, along with his old driver's license ( they may require proof of insurence but you can tell them he just want to renew his license) and social security card (is must) he should not have any problem.
