cleopatra, you are absolutely right, Roka sir was one of the most influencing personalities of my life also. I want to reminisce a bit here: It was holi time, and we punks were throwing lolas at every girl we saw. Roka sir was of course 'hunna baa, hunna'. Anyway, as we were in line after school to get into our buses to go home, we still could not resist throwing them lolas to hapless girls. Roka sir caught me in the act and he came after me. Of course he walked with a limp, so I was able to avoid capture and run. The next year, my final year at Vanasthali, he was my english teacher. my english was somewhat decent back then, so he would always use my exam paper to pass around other sections before handing it back to me. Every time though, there would be a small note asking me to stay away from throwing those lolas to girls in school-just to remind me he had not forgotten! It was only after I came to the US that I found out he was a well known literary giant of our time...also known as one of the pioneers of nepali muktak. When I was in Nepal last year, I actually went to Vanasthali just to sit down by his mural. I knew he was gone, but not sure when. moot point though, guys like him will always be in our memories.
