I wish it was a victory for "ChanaChatpat" and "Khali-SiSi" people. It is not their victory. It is a victory for Goit and company. It is a victory for those people who think that Violence can bring change in Nepal. I don't have nothing against Madesh or Madeshi Janta, I will always hoot for their equal right. I do acknowledge the fact that they have been discriminted in Kathmandu and some areas; however, in "Madesh-Movement" we over-looked "Badham" people (Pahadiya). They are also as discriminated as "ChanaChatpat" people. It is not a race(Madesh/Pahad) issue; it is a class issue. It is a universal truth that upper class always dominated the lower class. It is not just in Nepal but everywhere. The discrimination issue should be solved/addressed with "equal opportunity" and "equal rights." Yes, having their equal representative in parliament or legilature body is a step towards having equal right and opportunities. Nepal Government has decided to take population as factor and give terai the representation of 49%. Great achievement for terai people, eh? But the question remains, at what cost? Himalya region of Nepal, for instance, Karnali zone has a very few population but large area. There share in parliament will be decreased. I am sure that no one will disagree on the fact that Himalaya and most of the Pahadi areas are more under-developed than most of the Terai region. It is sad seeing that there representation being reduced. if increase in representation in parliament insures equal right and opportunity, what about the right of these unheard people, who can't even make it to places like Kathmandu to sell "ChanaChatpat, Khalisisi or Badham?" I can't believe that geographical criteria is completely being ignored and only the population factor is being accounted. I hope whaterver is happening, is happening for good. -Megalomaniac
