That's right, if the file is still in your system, which it may or may not be, you can either do about:cache and go to where it says "Disk Cache" and click on "List Cache entries" or parameterize what you put on the address bar ie type in about:cache?device=disk as republican suggested and you will see the list of files, including gif files in both cases. If you dont find the file you are looking for there, it is most likely not in the system anymore (unless you saved it somewhere else - did you check your default download directory from Tools>Options>Main>Downloads?)
