sapai jana ko jaankari ko lai humro desko history copy-paste gardai choo: Records of Nepali History begin with the Kiratis (Mongoloid people), who had come from the east. The Kiratis ruled the country for 8-9 centuries, until the Licchavis (Indo-Aryan People from northern India), invaded Nepal and overthrew the last Kirati King. With them came Hinduism and the still effective caste system. The Lichavis were in turn succeeded by the Thakuris, who founded Kantipur (today's Kathmandu). After that the golden age of the Mallas (wrestlers) rose. In this era great wealth flowed into the valley and most of the wonderful buildings that still can be seen today were constructed during this dynasty. The Mallas were followers of Shiva and were considered to be reincarnations of Vishnu. They tolerated Buddhism, which therefore flourished in those days. Muslims invaded Nepal from Bengal, and managed to reach up to Kathmandu Valley, which was quite badly destroyed. During the Malla dynasties, Nepal was broken down into 46 separate states, that frequently battled each other. In 1372 Malla King Jayasthiti unified the whole Valley, which in those days was divided into three Kingdoms (Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur). The Kingdoms continued to unify, until in the 15th century during the reign of Yaksha Malla, Nepal was bigger than it is to day. With his death however, the Kingdom was split up again, and another 200 years of strong conflicts were to follow, which resulted to the Shah Dynasty (that still continues till today).
