Tax query

Kiran_SH, I was in the same boat. I first filed 1040NR as a student, then after a couple of years switched to 1040EZ while I was still in F1. I went to H&R Block to file taxes after I got my H1 but their system processed a 1040EZ for me despite of the fact that I was a non-resident alien. So personally I do not think it really matters as long as you are paying taxes and not deceiving the government. Also, after 5 years of your stay in the U.S., you are eligible to file your taxes as a resident. I would suggest you either file taxes online ( Turbotax.com- $30, are you a resident -Y/N is not a part of the questionnaire) or go to H & R Block, pay $100 - $20 rebate = $80 to file it with a tax professional. Goodluck. -M
