Mahabharat is a holy book and any holes in the story needs to be examined further. All hindus take this book as the source of guidance. It is a very important book as far as Hinduism is concerned. Any oddities in the story should be investigated. Perhaps it could simply be error in the stories came from inaccurately passing down the story through the ages.
