We are looking to adopt a child from Nepal and are seeking some advice from people who have been through the same. We know that going through an agency is very costly and time consuming. We were thinking of directly going to Nepal and adopting from an orphanage. Does anyone have similar kind of experience or suggestions about the possibilities of doing so? What immigration obstacles would we face? Is our current status going be a hindrance? (My spouse is a citizen and I am a Green Card holder). Would it help if both of us are a U.S. citizen? We would really appreciate if someone could guide us through the entire process or provide suggestions.
