DV victims want compensation from US Himalayan News Service Kathmandu, January 11: American Diversity Visa Victim Association (ADVVA) has demanded that the US Embassy in Nepal should provide compensation for the expenses that the people had to bear while undergoing various process to get the Diversity Visa (DV). In their five-point demands put forward to the government, they have demanded for prior information services regarding the DV process. They have also requested the US Embassy not to charge any fee if they are not given visas. “We demand the Embassy not to make DV lottery winners an internal squatter in the name of DV lottery by victimising them economically, socially and mentally,” said Sita Bastakoti, a member of the ADVVA. Members of the ADVVA are on relay hunger strike before the US Embassy till January 24. They would also submit a memorandum to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala as part of their protest programmes. They are schedule to go for fast unto death if their demands are not fulfilled by January 24. fast unto death? surprises anyone.
