Sayami - At first I thought you had a point and were just doing a bad job expressing it. I am now convinced you don't. You are over-generalizing in every post and your observations about the world appear detached from reality. Based solely on what you have said on this and other threads, your whole world view seems influenced by a deep-seated prejudice that smacks of ignorance and close mindedness. Before you tell others to move with the times, I'd suggest you look in the mirror first. I have Bahun friends too - how come my friends are not like yours? I can't say all Bahuns or Chettris or Newars are great based solely on looking at my friends, and neither can you (to the opposite effect). To do so demostrates an over-reliance on personal observation to draw conclusions about the world and an intellectual laziness to find out the real reasons behind things. You still havent answered my question about what gives you the right to expect certain types of behaviours from some people and why that behaviour might be considered inexcusable for one group of people but perfectly ok for another? If you have an answer, I'd like to hear it. "जातले दिएको नदिएको भन्नु परेन त!! " परेन ! On one hand you talk about living in America yet on the other you seem to have a 16-th century mindset about what comprises of caste and what is appropriate behavior. If anyone needs to change their thinking it doesn't seem to be those people reading the swastani - or those getting drunk - rather it is you who needs to examine your own hypocrisy. Sorry but that is the only conclusion I can come to after reading your posts. Tell me I am wrong and why and I am willing to hear you out.
