my GRE experience

Hi All: Thanks for reading and your comments. I really wanted to share this story with at least some people, and I chose sajha because I occasionally visit this site. I used to be pretty regular. To answer RSVP, I haven't received the results from two essays yet. I am hoping that it will be in between 5 to 6. My previous essay writing was for TOEFL, looong time ago, and I had 6 in that. But TOEFL is TOEFL, and GRE is GRE, I guess. I withheld some info in the narrative again. I took GRE long ago, and I was hoping to foist that off to the department I was going to. My GRE score long ago was 2300 out of 2400. There used to be an analytical section quite different from the current one. I thought that was pretty decent score, and was hoping that my intended school would accept that. They didn't, and it initially made me fearful whether my second try will result in abysmally low score. Riten: I have read some of your postings, and all I can say is I wish I were as smart as you. I now agree with all those who think GRE is not indicative of anything. Some people just get lucky. I am also very lucky when it comes to choosing multiple choice questions. I vividly remember guessing in two math questions, and two verbal questoins. They both could have been wrong and driven my score lower. Finally, one thing is certain, it is hard to resist showing off this score, I know. I have doen that a few times in the past even with my relatively lower score. But I also hope to share one most important lesson from my test experience to you all: Don't panic. The test is do-able. If you have a habit of reading good newspapers, you can do it. Have fun, and good luck to all those who are planning to take it.
