"Curfew imposed in Nepalgunj: The local administration imposed curfew in Nepalgunj following clashes between Madhesi and Pahadi (hilly) people. The local administration imposed curfew from 11.30 a.m. till 5 p.m. following protests and clashes between the two communal groups. The clash occurred after party activists of Nepal Sadbhawana Party (Anandi-devi) vandalised some public transportation and shops in Nepalgunj while enforcing their Terai Bandh called on Monday. The situation has become normal following the imposition of curfew. This is the first time the local administration has imposed curfew following the success of April movement. Meanwhile, transport entrepreneurs obstructed Mahendra highway protesting the vandalising of vehicles during the bandh. NSP (A) cadres vandalised more than two-dozen vehicles while enforcing their Terai Bandh on Monday. The NSP (A), which is an ally of the seven-party government, has called the bandh expressing dissatisfaction over the recently signed interim constitution and has alleged that the interim constitution failed to address the demands of Madhesi people.
