Dimple wrote: Most of you all are still not happy and satisfied with all the bloodshed and abduction of innocents, torture of those showing resistence, rape of minors by the so called new freedom fighters, blaming it all to the Shahs. as much as i want to give you plaudits for speaking your mind, i am wondering if you ever bothered to analyze the ground reality of nepal. :P. to get into the gist, i think one needs to realise the crux of the problem of nepal and see what shah regime (who ruled nepal for almost 250 freakin years) did or intended to do to address that very problem of nepal. 1) if you think nepal was peaceful under panchayati system, then excuse me for being harsh, but ms. i have to draw a simple conclusion that you have not expanded your vision outside thankot. :P.. i, hereby, request you to come to the ground and see nepal beyond narayanhiti and ktm. 2) nepal's major problem has always been 'social disparity'. we have hierarchichal social structure which always gives undue advantage to the so-called upper class and the poor unprivileged ones (dalit, mahila, janajati, madishe) have always been the victim of oppression/suppression for centuries. 3) be it during rana regime, shah regime or girija regime, there was no single conspicuous and sincere effort in the part of the rulers, to address/solve the problem. 4) nepalese did not ever get a chance to breathe air of complete freedom. beareaucracy, politics, education everywhere, these privileged group of people (close to royals and rulers) have their influence and hence they dictate their own terms. their strong grip over the system is invincible. 5) the war that we saw for the past 10 years is because of this differences. keeping the prejudices for and against maoists aside, it should be understood that this war was inevitable. a poor in a village does not get enough food and our so-called prince rides harley in the street of ktm. wow! how fair! 6) it takes a revolution to bring a social reformation of the magnitude that the "just nepal" was/is craving for. what and how will the new regime do to restructure the unjust society of ours is still to be seen but at least we are in a right direction and if we follow the right path, hopefully we will see a new, just nepal in the future.
