Studies ------------- -How is student life in Aus? No good my friend, its terrible in fact. Well, if you're a Masters students and if your spouse is on dependent visa then he/she can work full time and that way its cool. -How r the chances of getting RA n TA in Graduation? (while continuuing) No Chance (Almost) (Is TA is for Teacher's/Teaching assistant ? What is RA?) - Can student make good/decent life even after paying tuition fee? No way, if you try to stay under legal limitation. Working 20 hours is just not enough - How is the pay? Up to AU $ 20 an hour if you work legally. Upto 35 dollars in Sundays and Public holidays. If you work cash in hand (illegally) it can get as low as $8 or $10 - Off campus jobs? (and of course pay) You'll find no job in Campus. - Does Aus also have 5 years Ph D course like US (Masters+ Ph D)? No (As far as I know) - Can student apply for work permit while studying? Yes, otherwise he won't be allowed to work, not even 20 hours. Thats right, you need to apply for work permit to work 20 hours. - Generally how many hours r students allowed to work? (is it 20 hrs a week?) Yes 20 hours After Study ---------------- -How is job market? I would say the job market is not too bad. But if you look at the Nepalis living here for 10 - 15 years, you'll be frustrated. - I heard every state has their own rules, can we apply jobs to any state we want? States have own rules but one can go anywhere he/she likes. - After completion of study, if visa expires, how much time students get to find job? (Like in Canada its one year) I'm not sure how long can a student stay after student visa (as well as study) is over. Immigration --------------- -Are students eligible to apply? Normally yes, Students are encouraged to apply. (For Permanent residency, if that is what you mean) - Generally, how long does it take for final decision? It depends upon the the "job on demand list". for an instance, less than 1 - 2 months for Nurses. Lets say 6-10 months in average. - Can we directly apply for citizenship after getting PR No. I believe you have to live 2 years minimum in Australia (after you are a PR) to be eligible for the citizenship. - How is Australain life? Australian life? Its good if you earn enough. (Well I guess that rule applies everywhere, kaso?) Aussie Life ------- -I heard weather is great, is that really so? Weather . . . its hot. In summer it reaches upto 42- 43 degree. Great . . . if you love surfing and beaches. - Do they know anything more except CRICKET? Ausies love sports. All sort of sports. Cricket, Rugby, Football, anything. You name it, they'll love it. They are crazy for sports. They spend days watching games as boring as lawn bowling. - Which cities r the best to live (jobs and life)? Sidney has highest population. Opportunities are high and pay is high too. Life is faster in Sydney than any other city like Melbourne. Brisbane is cool (they say, I've never been there). Melbourne is cheapest among the cities, in regards to real estate (I was surprised to hear that too) - How big is Nepalese community? Nepalese community is quite big. (I dunnno how big is big however) Some inner suburbs of Sydney like Ashfield, Granville, Rockdale, Kogarah have too many Nepalis living. In trains, in shopping mall, at work, in University, everywhere you'll see Nepali. There is one University (Central Queensland Uni) known as Shanker Dev Campus of Sydney. Aussie chicks -------------- Aussie gals (AKA FAT A$$) are not good for your eyes. But don't be disappointed. You'll find plenty of beautiful Asians (I'm not talking about South Asians).
