Safeheaven! One of my friend had the same problem but he managed to bring her in F2 status. We need to show the marriage certificate in the US embassy and in the international office to get her I-20. If you want her to go to school/work, then coming here in F1 visa is much better than F2. They think F2 visa holder as a visitor, so they can't go to school and can't work ligally. I have some experience how it feels when your spouce is capable and she iis in F2 visa status. I suggest you to apply for F-1.
