Another atrocity. Man dies in Maoist captivity A man taken hostage by the Maoists since one week in Jhapa district has died in captivity under mysterious circumstances. Gopal Rajbansi of Arjundhara in Jhapa, who was taken into custody by the Maoists on October 15 on charges of “theft and criminal activities”, was found dead on Sunday at a house in Bahundandi where he was kept, according to reports. The Maoists have claimed that Rajbansi poisoned himself and died. The rebels refused to hand over Rajbansi’s dead body to his family and performed his last rites themselves.
