axe123, When a criticism comes with malice clipped to it, I never respond. But I will respond to you, because you sound considerate and polite even when you seem to have completely misconstrued my journal. In the process of making fun of myself, my family, my wife, my in-laws, my relatives, my wedding, my purohit baaje, my Saaipata, lack of water in my house, lack of snacks for my Janti… it looks like I ended up offending “your culture.” I am sorry. I sincerely apologize to you, your family, your wife, your in-laws, your relatives, your wedding, your purohit baaje, your saaipata, your water tank, and your Janti for my rudeness. It should have occurred to me that I was offending so many of you in “your culture” when I was summarizing a day in the life of sum_off. I am sorry. I really feel as stupid as Pope Benedict for being so insensitive to our culture and traditions. For that I apologize to you and every Hindu in Nepal, India, Mauritius, Trinidad & Tobago, and the rest of the world. I am sorry. Also I take this opportunity to apologize to all the animals that were emotionally hurt during the scripting of this journal. These include: a chimpanzee, a rhino, a circus monkey, a panda, and a female lion. I apologize to the members of ‘People for the members of Ethical Treatment of Animals’ (PETA), and all the animal lovers of the world. I am sorry. Having offended the diplomats, I take this opportunity to apologize to all the diplomats and the goodwill ambassadors in the world. Let me take this opportunity to acknowledge what a wonderful job you guys are doing in the Middle East, Sudan, and the rest of the world. I am sorry. Personally I would like to apologize to China and their civilization that started from Shang dynasty and continued through Ming dynasty, and the current Republic of China. I take this opportunity to share with you how much I have enjoyed Kung Pao Chicken and General Tso’s chicken over the years. This apology stands for both China and one of its own provinces, Taiwan. I am sorry. Then again, I ask you axe123, what is the point of laughing if you can’t laugh at yourself? What is the point of getting married if your wife does not get your wit? What is the point of having a family that doesn’t understand that you have a knack for linking your humor to your nostalgia? And what is the point of living a culture that does not admit its shortcomings? This may sound as corny as a second grade English book, but trust me, when you start laughing at yourself, the rest of us will start laughing with you. Only the inferior ones can’t laugh at themselves. Have you ever met a funny religion fanatic? I have. And he laughs at your religion.
