Awatar, U raised a very good issue. I think ppl use their expertise in the laguage of english to prove their intellectualism. I admire good writing. But some use such language to prove themselves better than the one who use simple spoken language. Yes if there is a thread about English literature and vocabulary, it would make sense for those ppl to show how deep they are in literature. Like when they write an article, or a fiction it would make sense to see their expertise in the language used but it doenst make sense in use of advanced literature when we are just talking about day to day normal stuff. I think ppl use vast english to prove themselves an intellect as our society always perceived ppl who spoke good english as an intellect. Poor perception but so true at the same time.
