I don't know the answer. But I, for one, am certainly willing to engage in some trial-and-error expreriments to explore ways to find some sort of a balance. That's because it's increasingly clear that our seniors and elders in Nepal mean well, but, often, they might NOT and do NOT know everything that's out there. Somehow, Nepali traditions, the ones we grew up with, hold us back from engaging in free discussions with and about our seniors and elders, and we fear offending or disrespecting them. But in a democracy -- in a public sphere -- it's getting increasingly important to bring diverse, alternative views, even when they CONTRADICT the existing mainstream views of the elders and seniors. Again, how does one find a balance (assuming one needs such a balance) is something I remain quite ignorant yet curious about. oohi ashu
