Thanks Max101 for your reply. So for the question in the DS156 form "Has anyone ever filed an immigrant visa petition on your behalf" , you answered "YES" and gave the name of your employer right? Also how long you had to wait to get the interview date ? Regarding your question of marrying after I-140 or I-485 , to the best of my knowledge you have to process your spouse's I-485 also along with yours otherwise once you get your GC then you have wait till you become a citizen in order to sponsor your spouse unless she comes on different non immigrant visa like F1 or H1. I-140 is just an immigrant visa petition filed on your behalf by your employerand I am assuming your GC is employment based.
