Interesting ending there Suna. Sometimes yes. Well its not the really the regilion that attracts the opposite sex, but the fact that nepali men (usually and historically), no matter how much of a energizer bunny rabbit they have been in the past, look for girls that are submissive and presentable to society and their parents. Turning to such seemingly religous practices and activities such as fasting gives that impression of a woman that is marrigable perhaps? An indirect, unspoken way of categorizing oneself to look for a suitable spouse? And is it also not possible that those people might have a change of heart about religion, since their younger and more juvilant days? And i dont think eating a burger makes you any less hindu. (i guess i'm really defending myself) but really your dharma lies in what you do everyday, how you are to people, what is your attitude towards your family, are you a kind and caring person, and do you do your karma (which is not necessarily glueing your self to a room and garing pooja for hours)? I eat beef while i help my friends and parents out, when theyre in need. I think god would understand, if such a figure ever existed.
