Some of the artists have set bad examples in Boston. May be the same concepts lingers. Most of the artists are too dependent upon the hosts. I think you should put forward some terms and conditions to make it better, like their expectations, travelling and fooding arrangements, sharing of the profit (Well Boston has experienced losses in many of the concerts and from the organizers point of view, organizing concert is NOT worth the effort), sharing costs for hall rental, insurance etc. Make a contract and possibly will work out.
